So i was wondering if you could give me some what would i say, advice, things to know, how to get started, what is the best way to get to Japan and have a life. and the visa thing i don't get allot of it. and i was wondering if you could help.
Hey I just found all of this forum. Anyway, I'm still in high school and I am truly thinking about joining the JET program or the SDA ELS (http://els.adventist.jp/index.php). When I was in Jr. High, one of our graduating students (our school is pre-k-12th grade) came back from Japan as an English teacher, I talked to him and ever since that day I have fallen in love with Japan! From what I've heard, becoming a English teacher through programs like these are a great way to experience the country. JET program pays 3.6 million ¥/year (approx. USD $36,000/year) which is enough to live off of and have a little left over. A lot of english teachers in Japan work side jobs at Jukus (extra private teaching) which pays 4,000 ¥/hr (approx. USD $40.00/hr). When you enter college you can also go into study abroad programs which lets you take college classes in Japan for a allotted time. Both ways are good, but becoming a teacher will allow more time in Japan. I do not know much about Visas, but here is wikipedia definition..... "A visa is an indication that a person is authorized to enter the country which "issued" the visa, subject to permission of an immigration official at the time of actual entry." Good luck and hopefully we will both achieve our dreams!
